Mantra Biography

The Story Mantra have gone through alot since there first appearence in paris texas on friday the 13th of october But to know the future one must know the past correct? Good. This is the 1st time the full mantra story is being told yes,the whole 9 yards everything from start to present! July 1st,was really the start of mantra,as it was the day evan parted ways with then band "Take the bullets" Evan once said "Dont get me wrong i loved being in take the bullest and those guys were my best friends, but near the end i wanted to something different,i tried to do it with take the bullets but it didnt seem to go down well but i respect there musical goals and mine were just different" While this happend Cian (Guitar/Vox) was in holidays in spain,Before cian left evan and cian had tlaked about starting a side project for evan in which he would play drums called "Nacho Monkey" when cian got home Evan asked him if he was still interested in starting a alternative melodic rock band and cian said "Really?,pffft fuck yeah ill still do it" Once evan and cian both had established there goals they then needed a Bassist,With the whole idea they both had i nthere minds they were going to be VERY paticular, they asked a good friend Ailsa Barie to play bass she accepted with great enthusiasm,Alot of people think laura nolan was the bassist 1st but no that is not true,Over the summer the 3 were with friends and laur nolan asked if she would be any help as to play rhytm guitar, cian liked the idea and asked evan and ailsa, they were willing to try it,the 1st practice with laura was supposed to be a week later but laura couldnt make it as she was away on holidays,So evan ailsa and cian decided to practice anyway, they had many practices without laura and then began to doubt the need of a second guitarist,Ailsa during this time become to feel like being in aband was harder than she thought and asked could she leave the band (Yes she actualy asked COULD she leave) and evan and cian said of course as they didnt want to hold her against her will Evan and cian then decided to get laura to play bass instead of guitar as they were doubting the need for a 2nd guitar anyway, with laura as the bassist they played many gigs including 3 gigs in kilkenyn and one gig in gorey, wexford Shortyl after these gigs there seemed to be a lack of enthusiasm and also effort with laura as she had other things going on,so the band decided to let her go,the band needed a bassist asap as they had a few gigs in early january at the time,But they still ere going to be very paticular about who they got for the same reasons as the 1st time,Lists were made and none jumped out at the band, until evan asked old friend james thatcher would he be interested and he agreed with GREAT plaeasue mid december, with james the band have become alot more fuller and bigger sound to which they had been looking for at the start, the band now have a tour set up and are willing to give there all to this That was mantra's story,Thanks for reading

Irish Music Promotion
Irish Bands List.com was set up to promote Irish Music to the world. Unsigned Irish Music gains very little exposure both in Ireland and worldwide due to the lack of media channels here and little interest from abroad. This is why young Irish musicians find it a constant struggle to get anywhere in the music business. The internet, as a growing, developing network of information is the best way to get Irish artists and Irish Music out to the world.

Irish Bands List.com has been trying to expose Irish Music to the world since early 2004. We have found it hard to expose Irish Music as there is little interest in Irish Music on a world wide scale, but there is interest. We have to compete in the larger scale of world music and this has been difficult, yet our visitor traffic has been doubling every year. We hope that, through this site, Irish Music will soon get the exposure it deserves.
